About us
IMB (www.imb.de) is a research institute on the campus of the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany.  It is generously funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Our research in the Schick group focuses on the molecular mechanisms of gene regulation and chromatin organization by the BAF complex(es), using a variety of new methods and cell culture models. Causing cancer or developmental disorders, the cellular consequences of defective chromatin regulation is center of our research interest. We are looking for a student assistant (m/f/d) to support us with organizational and scientific tasks (if possible 12-19 hours per week).
Tasks and responsibilities
  • Support with general laboratory organisation (e.g., material databases, coordination of organisational matters, processing of orders and deliveries)
  • Maintainance of laboratory safety and equipment
  • Support using molecular methods (e.g., cloning, plasmid purification, mycoplasma testing)
  • Support in cell culture with adherent cell lines and induced stem cells
Requirements
  • Good organisational skills and a high sense of responsibility
  • Motivation, independence, team spirit and flexibility
  • Experience with good scientific practice and accurate work in the laboratory
  • Student of biology, molecular biology, biomedicine or similar
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and German
